Early test for cancer or usually called cancer screening refers to variety of tests used to determine presence of cancer when patient is still asymptomatic or no symptoms of cancer yet. Cancer screening are usually recommended to person who have hereditary risk or family history of cancer, presence of risk factors like cigarrette smoking and age group where incidence of cancer started to rise significantly. The conventional cancer screening may include the use of imaging like low dose CT scan for individual with high risk to develop lung cancer, endoscopy like colonoscopy to screen colorectal cancer, procedures like pap smear to screen cancer and tumor markers like PSA to screen for prostate cancer. At present, there are molecular tests that are being utilized for cancer screening, usually with the aid of machine learning or AI, to analyze molecular substances like presence of circulating tumor dna, response of peripheral blood mononuclear cells to presence of cancer cells and presence of circulating tumor cells in the blood.
