Vincristine is commonly used in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and certain pediatric cancers.
It belongs to a class of drugs known as vinca alkaloids.
Vincristine works by inhibiting the formation of microtubules, which are essential for cell division. By preventing proper spindle formation, it may stop cancer cells from dividing.
Its effects on nerve cells may also lead to side effects such as peripheral neuropathy, in addition to impacts on other rapidly dividing cells.
